A new partnership with North York Arts
Supporting and advocating for the work of artists who are committed to young audiences is really important to me. Our newsletter and our Prologue Artists Exchange free series are ways that we try to share resources and bring many different artists together to explore and strengthen their work, particularly in schools.
I wanted to try and reach more broadly in arts community and connect beyond our usual circle, so we reached out to Toronto’s six Local Arts Service Organizations (LASO) and North York Arts enthusiastically offered to host our up-coming Artists Exchange.
We are so excited to be bringing this program outside of the downtown core and, as part of that, we asked North York Arts if there was a particular topic that they wanted us to explore.
I learned from them that many of the artists in this region of the city are new to Canada and so it seemed important to incorporate some specifics about the Ontario education system that may be helpful to artists trying to find their way into schools. God knows - it is difficult for those of us who grew up here… I feel that this is a wonderful beginning to what I hope is a long-term partnership with arts service organizations, and many new artists in the city.
Hope to see you at our next Artists Exchange on Feb. 24th, facilitated by the very popular Fana Soro and a truly engaged artist Kevin Ormsby of Kashedance. (You may contact firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a place.)
